This fantastic creature is sporting the perfect example of a low pony tail. This is Taks, the leader of the Danish visitors in the exhibit "Trolls, a field study" at the NC Arboretum. If you have not been to see Taks and his siblings, do not delay. Maybe delay a week, since this week we have time warped into the Arctic Tundra....The Trolls are a traveling exhibit created by Danish artist Thomas Dambo, known for his global collection of sustainable art creations. The babies (Taks and his siblings) luckily as trolls cannot get head lice, so feel free to go be head to head with them at the Arboretum any time before February 17, 2026.
When we think of the best types of hairstyles for lice prevention, up wins by a mile! Our favorites are braids or buns, but a pony tail is so much better than hair down. In my house, "cheese balls" a.k.a. "space buns" a.k.a. "hair knots", were very popular. Whatever you and your long haired offspring can agree upon, up is better. If your young person has recently had lice, remember they are more likely to get a re-infestation within the first 30 days after treatment. Going back into that same environment where they originally got lice (school or daycare) usually cannot be avoided so take the simple steps you can to reduce the odds against getting it again.
